2016 Hart & Hunter Rosé
History & Provenence
Another wonderful adventure through the Black Series, with the release of our first Rose, made entirely from Hunter Valley Shiraz grapes.
We have made this wine in the Saignée style, or bleedoff, as it is often referred by. This method is often used to create the most delicate of the Rosés. The juice is gathered from the weight of the grapes pressing down on top of each other and bleeding off the shiraz juice. As the juice is in contact with the skins for a very short time, the colour is light, yet the wine produced is full and fruity retaining great freshness. We sent a portion of the juice to barrel for wilde ferment, whilst the remainder was fermented in stainless steel. All components were then blended together giving us a sumptuous, delicious wine.
The wine is pale blush, with aromas of raspberries, pink musk and grapefruit. The palate is refreshingly dry with red currant, pink musk and a lovely balance of acidity, followed with flavoursome, yet savoury finish.
The Rose is an ideal choice chilled with grilled prawns.
A beautiful food wine to be drunk chilled now.
