Our Team
“We like to create wines that are ultimately delicious, reflect our way of life in the Hunter, and are just super drinkable with the food that we like to grow and eat”.
– DAMIEN & JODIE
Damien and Jodie have been making wine in the Hunter Valley for 20 years and across different regions of the world. Hart & Hunter was born after a trip to the south of Italy in 2006 and in 2009 they secured the first parcel of Ablington Shiraz. The rest as they say, is history.
Damien Stevens – Winemaker/Owner,
Damien has been making wine in the Hunter Valley for 20 years, after working with some of the big names of the day, like Briar Ridge and Wandin Valley. He managed to include an overseas harvest at Cloudy Bay, New Zealand in 2005, then spent several months learning the craft the Italian way, in Campania in the south of Italy in 2006.
Travels to Italy were certainly the start of big plans, upon his return Damien and Jodie secured fruit in what was the startup of the pHat Wine Co in 2009.
Jodie Belleville – Winemaker/Owner,
Jodie arrived for her first harvest in the Hunter Valley in 2002. Then followed with vintages in Germany and New Zealand before returning to the Hunter permanently in 2003. After stints with Brokenwood Wines and McGuigan Wines, Jodie and Damien created the pHat Wine Co, securing fruit for their new venture from the 2009 vintage.
