This mulled wine infuses rich, robust flavours with aromatic spices and a touch of sweetness.

A beverage perfect for gatherings or a cozy night in.

Ingredients

  • 1 bottle of Hart & Hunter 2022 Deaseys Road Shiraz
  • 1 orange, sliced
  • 3 cinnamon sticks
  • 5 whole cloves
  • 3 star anise
  • tsp cardamon pods
  • 1/4 cup honey or sugar (adjust to taste)
  • fresh, tinned or jared cherries for garnish ( optional)
  • 2 sprigs of fresh rosemary ( optional)
  • 1/4 cup brandy ( optional)
  • 1 tsp Apple Cider Vinegar ( optional)

Directions

Prepare Ingredients
  • Slice the orange and measure out all your spices.
Combine Ingredients
  • In a large pot, combine your Hart & Hunter 2022 Deaseys Road Shiraz, orange slices, cinnamon sticks, cloves, cardamon pods and star anise.
  • Add honey or sugar, apple cider vinegar and brandy (if using)
  • For a unique twist, add rosemary sprigs.
 Heat the Mixture
  • Place the pot over medium heat.
  • Heat until just below a simmer, making sure not to boil, for about 20-25 minutes. This allows the flavours to meld together.
Taste and Adjust
  • Taste your mulled wine and adjust sweetness if necessary by adding more honey or sugar.
  • Remove from heat and let it sit for a few minutes to further develop flavours.
Strain and Enjoy
  • Strain the mulled wine to remove spices and fruit slices.
  • Pour into mugs or heatproof glasses.
  • Garnish with fresh cherries, or a sprig of rosemary if desired.
  • Serve warm.

For an extra aromatic touch, rim the glasses with a mix of sugar and cinnamon before serving.

This recipe can easily be doubled or tripled for larger gatherings.
