World Tourism Day!
It’s World Tourism Day, and if you’ve been daydreaming about getting out and doing something fabulous, we’ve got just the thing for you.
Our team has put their heads together to create the perfect itinerary for an amazing day out in the Hunter Valley.
Ready? Let’s go!
Stop #1: Kick Off Your Day at Hart & Hunter
First things first – you’re starting your day with us! (Because, let’s be honest, you should always start with wine.) Our cellar door is small but cosy, and we absolutely love welcoming people in for a relaxed tasting. We’ve got our favourites ready for you to taste, and if you’re lucky, we might even pour you something special from our museum collection.
It’s not just about the wine, though (okay, it’s mostly about the wine). You’ll hear the stories behind each vineyard and vintage, and we guarantee you’ll leave feeling like part of the family.
We might even have a few local tips for the rest of your day – but let’s not get ahead of ourselves just yet!

Stop #2: Explore the Hunter Valley
Alright, with your palate well and truly warmed up, it’s time to explore a bit more of the Hunter Valley. There’s so much to see and do around here, and we’ve got the inside scoop on how to spend the rest of your day:
Scenic Drive Time
Take a leisurely drive through the vineyards – it honestly feels like stepping into a postcard. The rolling hills, the sun glistening through the vines, maybe even a kangaroo hopping by (yes, it happens!). Be sure to stop at Bimbadeen Lookout for a quick snap – it’s one of those views you can’t quite believe is real.
More Wineries (Because One Isn’t Enough!)
We love our wines, but we’ve got some pretty amazing neighbours too. Pop into M.J. Becker, Charteris, Gundog Estate, Vamp Wines Rooms, Mercer, John Wallace or Andrew Thomas for something exceptional. Or, if you fancy something truly iconic, check out Lakes Folly for top-tier wines.

Stop #3: Time to Eat!
By now, you’ll probably be feeling a little peckish – all that wine tasting does work up an appetite! For a bit of French flair, head to Bistro Molines (you can thank us later). Or, if you’re after something a bit more relaxed but just as delicious, Nineteen at The Vintage or, pop into Greg’s Espresso Bar at Pokolbin Village for the best toasties. And if you’re feeling adventurous, EXP Restaurant dishes out some seriously awesome food. Whatever you choose, you won’t be disappointed.
Stop #4: Shopping, Strolls, and Art
Now that you’re feeling properly satisfied (and maybe a bit sleepy from all the indulgence), it’s time for a gentle wander. The Hunter Valley Gardens are absolutely stunning, and the little shops in the village are adorable. Or, if you fancy some culture, check out the sculptures at Winmark Art Gallery or take a short drive to the Wollombi Cultural Centre. It’s the perfect way to unwind before… well, more wine, obviously.
Stop #5: Treat Yourself!
Feeling like a treat? Stop by the Hunter Valley Cheese Factory or the Hunter Valley Chocolate Company. Pick up a few nibbles to take home (or eat in the car, no judgement here). The Hunter is all about indulgence, and we say, why hold back?
Stop #6: The best way to end the day!
There’s really no better way to end your day than with a glass of wine (or a cold brew). Pop into IronBark Hill Brewery or Jimmy Joans for your final sip of the day. You’ve earned it after a day of exploring, eating, and enjoying the best of the Hunter.
And if you’re not quite ready to leave (we understand), why not book a night or two with Hunter Valley Stays or at Chateau Elan at The Vintage? More wine, more views, more relaxation – what’s not to love?
Bonus Tip: Make It Easy With a Tour!
Feeling overwhelmed by all the choices? Want to sit back and relax while someone else does the planning (and driving)? Two Fat Blokes, All Around The Vines, Vintage Connections, and Wine Trails with Lisa all offer curated half- and full-day tours, giving you the 5-star treatment. Or, if you prefer a more flexible approach, you can always hop on the iHop bus.
So, there you have it – your perfect day out in the Hunter Valley, all thanks to World Tourism Day. Whether you’re here for the wine, the food, the scenery, or just a chat with us at Hart & Hunter, we’d love to be part of your adventure.
Cheers to a day well spent in the Hunter!
